Senior's Outdoor Club of Calgary Website


This site is for members only who login using their last name and password.  Members are not required to have internet access to participate in club activities.  Members who do have access can use it in a limited way just to view the notice boards, photos, the bylaws, the membership lists and the summer hiking schedules.  On-line tools enable volunteers to maintain these lists and schedules.  On-line hike and banquet registration is available.  Members can register or de-register themselves or they can call or be called by a caller who can register on-line for them.  All members with access to this site can see who is registered for hikes and banquets.  The site maintains a history of hiking trip activity. 

Functions available to all members

1) view and print lists of:

- the members

- member hiking statistics

- the executive

- the callers and their reporting status

- those registered for the next hike (print formatted for use on the bus)

- hiking trip history

- those bumped from the bus

- those registered for the next banquet (print formatted for use at the banquet) and

- the in town and out of town summer hiking schedules (also viewable by the public)

2) self registration is available for members (with guests) who wish to register or de-register for:

- the next hike or

- the next banquet if the banquet registration has been opened

3) edit their personal information such as phone number, address, password, etc.

4) print a personalized membership renewal form

5) view and update simple notice boards

6) upload and view trip photos

7) view and print the bylaws

Functions available to volunteers

1) membership coordinators use on-line tools to:

- add and remove members

- edit member information

- maintain the executive list and

- edit the membership renewal form

2) telephone directors use on-line tools to:

- maintain the list of callers and

- assign callers to members

3) schedulers use online editors to maintain the summer hiking schedules

4) callers telephone member clients who want to be called and registered or deregistered for:

- the next hike or

- the next banquet

callers use a web page that

- shows their clients with the registration status for each one and also

- allows the callers to make on-line registration status changes for their clients

5) bus coordinators:

- can bump passengers from the bus if too many hikers are registered

- cancel the next hike. this action automatically:

- sends an e-mail notification to all callers and to all members registered for the next hike and

- posts a hike cancelation message on the notice board

6) social conveners:

- can open and close the banquet registration.  this automatically:

- sends a registry open or closed notification to the notice board 

- and to all members via e-mail 

7) web site managers give particular volunteers access to these functions
